Technology

Technology is advancing much too fast for this old lady! Having said that, I get really excited when I have learned something new-just ask Judy! When I set up my RSS feeds, I was just beside myself that I could have all my favorites and some new websites all together right at my fingertips just by checking my Google Reader account. I am also thinking about setting up a Flickr account to share photos with my family members who live out of state. This has all been such fun for me! Is this what they mean by "lifelong learners"? I can't wait to see what Judy has in store for us next!

RSS Feeds

I have subscribed to several websites of various topics on Google Reader.

Please go to http://google.com/reader/shared/03217128278449202345 to see some of my shared articles.

This is just so cool to be able to have all these websites available to me by clicking on my Google Reader account. I can also add subscriptions at any time and unsubscribe to a website if I choose to do so. I'm anxious to hear from those of you who used "Bloglines"-I would like to know some of the differences.

Trading card

My trading card is my grandson in case you hadn't guessed. Isn't he just the handsomest young man you have ever seen? He is also very smart and such a sweetheart! Well, I could just go on and on, but I know you get the idea!

Horses, horses, and more horses!

I found lots of photostreams in Flickr that I thought were really cool! One of my favorites is BarnYard-Babe's "one pretty little filly". From this picture, you will find other photos of even more horses!

Information R/evolution

In viewing this video, I remember using the old card catalog system as a means of locating a book or reference material in the library. I also remember searching through microfilm until I thought I would go blind looking for information. But now "we must rethink information beyond material constraints." "Everything is miscellaneous." "We no longer find information-we can make it find us." The responsibility of harnessing, creating, understanding, critiquing, and organizing information has been placed on all of us. "Together we create more information than the experts." Wow! It is indeed mind-boggling when I realize how far we have come in this "information age"!

A Vision of Students Today

This video was characterized by students holding up posters with such information as "I will read 8 bks this year". "I will read 2300 web pages". " I will read 1281 Facebook profiles."

"I have a $100 textbook that I will never open."

"I Facebook through most of my classes."

"I did not create the problems, but they are my problems!"

"When I graduate, I will probably get a job that does not exist today."

"I bring my laptop to class, but I don't work on class stuff.

Did You Know?

I viewed the U-Tube "Did You Know" last week. Some of the information that caught my attention :

The current generation will have 10-14 different jobs by age 38

70% of 4 year olds have used computers

Ebay revenue-$6billion

If MySpace was a country, it would be the 8th largest in the world.
